Katherine Cox Stevenson wears many hats. She’s a writer, a nurse, an artist, a teacher, and an animal “whisperer.” But no matter which hat she’s wearing, Katherine Cox Stevenson is a healer. And I mean “healer” in every sense of the word.

First and foremost, Katherine is in touch with her own “soul voice.” She tunes in and listens to what her intuitive, wise self knows, and she acts accordingly. I have witnessed her do this in her writing again and again. It is this gift to tune in beneath the surface of things that distinguishes her as a healer, guide, and teacher.

It’s no coincidence that she chose the word “compassion” to guide her writing during a period of time that we worked together: Katherine embodies this word. She sees every person—and animal!—she meets through eyes of compassion. And she extends this to her own artistic expression, which is nothing short of soul work; indeed, her vision for herself and for her students is always an authentic expression of self.

If you have a chance to work with Katherine, you will come away with a deeper and truer sense of who you are and what you are capable of. Whether she’s teaching you art or journaling or another form of self-care, she will ultimately teach you how to tune in to your soul voice. In this way she will provide you with the “key” to listen deeply to your wise self. You will experience a healing. You will know what it means to exercise self-compassion in your art, your journaling, and your life. With Katherine as your guide, you will find your “soul voice.”

Katherine is always intrigued and engaged with whoever or whatever is in front of her. I find deep pleasure in her company as a painting student, a gallery assistant, a plein air convener for local painters, Sunday’s muse writer and as a friend. Katherine’s sharp intellect and generous spirit allow her tenacious nature to succeed in as many various areas as she has interests. My overall experience with Katherine is one of wholeness, compassion, respect and insight. My life is significantly richer for knowing her. Whatever Katherine offers is of the highest quality, well organized and delivered with care.

I’ve known my friend Katherine Cox Stevenson for several years, first as a writer and then as a journaling coach. I’m presently in a group she leads, Journaling for Health. Besides being a wonderful human being, she is also a thoughtful, sensitive facilitator for those of us journaling in order to improve our wellness. She makes sure that each one of us feels heard and respected, and as a result we all felt comfortable together and were able to share our personal feelings and processes almost at once. If you ever have the opportunity to work with her, I highly recommend the experience.

Having been a participant in Katherine’s Journaling for Health group I can say that she is a very skilled, caring facilitator and moderator. She brings so much knowledge and life’s experience to each meeting. The group feels very welcoming and safe under her guidance and I plan on continuing with the Journaling group as time permits.

Katherine brings her kind, knowledgeable and gentle self to her work, activities and friendships. During ‘Journaling for Health’ she has created a safe, supportive environment allowing for the growth and development for each individual and the group. Katherine understands group dynamics, everyone has the opportunity to speak, share thoughts ideas and provide prompts for journaling. The group is encouraged to use their authentic voice and share with others their self discovery.

I had the opportunity to participate in Katherine’s Journaling course on Mayne Island and it was life changing. I was able to access parts of myself I didn’t know were there and it was a catalyst to deep healing. I still use the tools she taught us, and I write more now than I ever have. I really sit and reflect on the messages in nature and it’s always lessons that change my way of thinking. The location was beautiful, and every aspect of comfort was taken care of from the moment we arrived to when we left. Katherine is a treasure and I highly recommend her. I will be hard pressed to find someone who I love just as much in my new location!

For two years, I belonged to the monthly Journaling for Health group Katherine is expert at facilitating. With her competent leadership and caring manner, Katherine sets the stage for stimulating, heartfelt, and diverse conversations. Clearly, she spends much time and effort in anything she undertakes and shows excitement and passion for learning.

In leading the group, Katherine acknowledges a variety of diverse thoughts/contributions in a sensitive and non-judgemental manner, while keeping the group focused on the general theme of discussion.

Katherine encourages individuals in the group to come up with themes/topics which I thought was a great idea to give group members ownership, responsibility, and commitment to the program.

I have no hesitation in recommending Katherine’s writing courses and am confident those enrolling will appreciate the thought provoking and self-reflective journey they will experience under her facilitation and mentoring.
